Roman Polanski, the price of a good movie ?

Dear Web Reader,

Thank you for stopping by. Lets get right down to it. I am have my opinions on Roman Polanski. He is a convicted sex offender and worse a guilty pedophile. A monster that stole something from a 13 year old . The details of the case and the actual transcripts can be found here. Please read the transcript with respect because this child is part of our community. She is our daughter, our sister and our mother.

My general issue is with the reporters who are ‘outraged’ by the arrest and the french and polish politicians who are calling for the release of the fugitive. And even in our own country there are people who are calling for his release. Let us remember that as impalpable as the crime may be against anyone, Roman Polanski committed this crime against an American.

Reporters are asking that He be excused because he was a holocaust survivor and has gone through a tough 30 years not being able to travel to the US and UK. First I am shocked that someone will even use the holocaust and this pedophile in the same sentence. The Russians, Jews and Gypsies who were rounded by and killed by the nazi party were innocent people who had lost all their right. This pedophile was not detained in any camp and was living in Krakow Poland free during  WWII. I am not a Russian, Jew or a Gypsy but if someone would soil the sacrifice of my forefathers by putting a drug addicted pedophile in with their lot I would be very upset.

Some allege that actress Nastassja Kinski might be also one of the children Polanski might have taken advantage of. And to add insult to injury the first movie he directed as a fugitive was called ‘Tess’ the story of  a young girl seducing an older man. Really ? Is this how this sad pathetic man sees it ? The 13 year old who had to fake an asthma attack for him to stop attacking her was seducing him.

And also please note that this convicted felon was a well to do person in the Hollywood circles and has a huge fan base right here in our country. I call for the blackballing of all actors and studios that have been associated with this criminal.

Update: Swiss authorities have come through with our request for this pedophile but the reaction of the ‘Swiss People’ is the most unusual. I read in an article on USA Today, Jean Ziegler saying “The Swiss image as such in the world will suffer” because they arrested a criminal. Who is Jean Ziegler, He is the expert who advices the UN on human rights issues. If his definition of human rights means no action against the rich and famous, I think its time the UN looked elsewhere for advice.

There are some swiss who are ‘ashamed’ of their country for arresting Roman Polanski. I live in a country where we are proud of the rule of the law and we love Her for it. But to say that you are ashamed of your country because it is upholding the law is just lunacy. I though Europeans are more refined and socialist – promoting justice for all and equal rights ?

There is no voice for the weak in this world anymore is seems like. But I am glad some people are still fighting for the right thing. Please do the right thing and boycott all movies produced/directed by these people who side with Roman Polanski. I agree it will be difficult but if you don’t stand for something, you will fall for anything. I have no issues with the following artist but they made a choice to use their star power to speak up for a rapist. I will continue to update the blog with the movies each of these people are involved with so that we can avoid them.

  • Woody Allen
  • Wes Anderson
  • Darren Aronofsky
  • Jonatham Demme
  • Stephen Frears
  • David Lynch
  • Martin Scorsese
  • Woopie Goldberg

Update: Swiss authorities have chosen to let Roman Polanski go free. There are two reasons sited for their decision. First, the technical issues with the extradition filed by the United States and second, according to the justice minister in charge – ” This is not about qualifying a crime. That is not our duty. This is not about deciding on guilt or innocence”. I for one do not understand the second reason. The minister goes on to say that Roman Polanski has been coming to Switzerland in “good faith” and thats another reason they cannot take any action against him.

I really though this would end differently. Maybe another time. Someone up there is watching and He is just and so we are in good hands.
