Trip to the White House

washington-dc-day-trip[1]Beautiful and majestic stood the white painted Aquia sandstone mansion truly an awe inspiring sight.  The manicured lawns and the rich history behind each tree were surreal.

The elegance of the house and how it was treated as a piece of history and a part of our future was very interesting. Everything thing was functional. I noticed a lot more elegance than grandeur throughout the whole tour. Though there was marble, porcelain and gold gilded there was never a sign of unwanted excess. One can almost see a disciplined restrain to make it not look like a palace but a place where a democratically elected leader lives and works from. The functionality of the white house keeps coming back to me.
Built in 1800 the time of kings and large architectural gesturing, the White House is modest in a grand way. I have always respected substance over packaging, and restrain over power. In that aspect the White House was beautiful to me.
