We were treated to some amazing food all weekend, thanks to our hosts who knew their restaurants. First we visited Zaytinya. The decor and ambiance was warm and comfortable. The place was a mixture of modern architecture cues and great lighting. The open kitchen style and the sweet aroma of grilled meat with Mediterranean spices was inviting. The welcome home attitude of the service was a welcome relief. Wonderful portions and crisp ambiance makes this a must for any Mediterranean food lover in DC.
What does one do after a great dinner wait for it to dawn to go to Brunch.
We had a delightful brunch at First Watch. Eggs and sausages in a burrito and a lot of french toast. Anyone who as been in one of these restaurants knows the food is good and the menu is very creative. We loved it.
Dinner time again, and this visit was no exception. Our hosts took us to this delectable find in George Town for some real brick oven Pizzas. We rode the metro and walked to the restaurant and walked by the famous Watergate Hotel, (hmmm we’ll leave that alone and stick to the food). The place was Pizza Paradiso, they have three locations in DC and we visited the one on M st. and it was packed. The vegetables were fresh and the crust was thin and perfect. The brick oven taste was unmistakable. The bar area downstairs was not big enough for the crowd but more the merrier right ? All in all a good place to chow down before getting out on the town.

Pizza Paradiso
Next stop, Breadsoda a cool bar/lounge with good music. I was surprised to see the DJ use only vinyl records yeah, ONLY vinyl records and he had some classic R&B stuff in there with some reggae thrown in.
After a fun late night out, we skipped breakfast and hit up this very authentic Mediterranean kabob place called Mirage Cafe. Its in Falls Church and it is worth the visit. Generous portions and a very cheerful lady served us our food. Adam suggested we try the Humus for appetizers and our host was on the money again. It was rich and creamy and we put that away in no time.
We even ordered seconds. The kabobs were great and the chicken kabob was my favorite. Tender and juicy we had struck food gold again. 4 out of 4 , a 100% if you will – success rate. Those are the kind of numbers you want to see. So there you have it 2 hours away from Richmond Virginia is the capital of the free world and from the looks of it the culinary capital of the world too. Until next time, Cheers.
