Adobe AIR is going to be the key technology for the Blackberry PlayBook adoption rate. RIM is positioning the PlayBook app development on Adobe’s AIR technology which according to Adobe will “enables developers to use HTML, JavaScript, Adobe Flash® software, and ActionScript® to build web applications that run as standalone client applications without the constraints of a browser.”
The idea behind a device and applications for that device which are engaging to the user is a “Win” combination, look at the Iphone and Andriod. However, what might be a detriment for Blackberry is that there is nobody left who can adopt a new technology. What I mean is that the need for a tablet has been overwhelmingly met by Apple’s Ipad and two dozen Android tablets out in the market. The question is what can Blackberry do that will be so different that it will cut into the market share of Apple and Android?
RIM was a market leader in the e-mail at hand technology however that is no longer the case. We will just have to wait and see what will the PlayBook do?
